Alongside its financial work Usha runs commercial ventures that create alternative livelihoods, particularly for older members and for those leaving sex work.
Kantha embroidery is done at Domjur. Organic farming and fish breeding are pursued at Baruipur, where the Government of West Bengal has offered financial aid to develop the infrastructure. Other ventures include supplying stationery to government and non-government organisations across West Bengal, travel and tour services, and departmental stores.
Vocational training is offered in beautician work, computer operation, driving, electrical work, carpentry and sanitary napkin manufacture.
