Banking

Savings, thrift, recurring and fixed deposits, and low-interest credit governed by the West Bengal Co-operative Societies Act, 1983.

  1. 1995 lending to members since Regd. 6/Cal

Usha’s micro-credit programmes let members save through daily collection, monthly income or fixed deposit schemes. Interest rates are at or above the market, which is the point: the cooperative exists to make saving worth doing.

Flexible hours and field-based collection make it practical for members to save part of their earnings without leaving work. The accumulated capital is then lent back to members at low interest, with financially disadvantaged members prioritised and repayment terms that take account of the circumstances sex workers actually live in.

All financial transactions are governed by the West Bengal Co-operative Societies Act, 1983.
